Dressing For Summer…With No Sun
I think we’ve all been feeling it this year, the summer months just aren’t arriving. We grasp onto those odd few hot days here and there, but we’re just not getting that vitamin D boost we’re all desperate for. So not only are we not getting them happy vibes from soaking in the rays, it’s also difficult to know what to wear.
Back To Basics
Crack out those wardrobe essentials with the trusty jeans and a tee. I know what you might be thinking, who wants tight jeans when it’s humid or even buttons for that matter, have no fear that’s what comfy, stretchy Magic Jeans are for! Then have a search through our gorgeous flattering t-shirts, with a big range of patterns and designs to let your personality shine through, but with a easy to throw together simple outfit you can’t go wrong when they sun hasn’t quite popped it’s head out. Then by adding something as simple as a scarf to your outfit you can not only jazz up a plain style but it can be used in so many different ways!
That’s right scarves aren’t just for winter, it can keep the heat off your neck, you can use it as a shawl when the cool air comes back and even as a beach cover up if you need a little confidence boost in a bikini. Something so small with so many uses and won’t take up much space in your bag.
Shirt & Shorts
Another way to keep cool when the sun it out but then you’ve got a bit of cover when the wind inevitably comes back is a shorts and shirt combo. You can style an oversized shirt like the Vogue that has a bold design either closed or open with a vest top and pop it with some peddle pusher shorts so you’ve got your legs out without showing too much. This creates a fun casual summery look but without making you too chilly.
Or go full holiday vibes and grab a two piece shorts matching set which are just perfect for so many different occasions, walking along the sea front, relaxing at the beach, swimwear cover up and even just an every day trip out. It gives you so many versatile options but gives you that bit of extra coverage over your shoulders and arms when the weather changes.
Keeping It Classy
Now when I think summer fashion, I do automatically think gorgeous dresses. At LJ’s we do have some really great wrap dresses in a wide range of patterns and colours and sizes, a perfect and flattering style to strut your stuff in the summer whether it’s a garden party, wedding or just want to treat yourself and feel fabulous. It’s also a lot easier to get those summery colours shining through with vibrant oranges and sky blues, splashes of citrussy yellows and lime greens; it’s near impossible to be in sad in those bright trendy colours.
I know what you’re going to say next… How are we meant to wear these beautiful plus size dresses when it’s cold! Well by adding a simple elegant blazer – like the Sassy, you don’t compromise your classy style.
And if it starts raining well at least we also do beautiful looking brollies to add to your outfit, all bases covered!
Something Different
A dress short or long just might now be your thing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get dressed up and feeling amazing. And when the weather is grey and miserable you might not want to risk going out without a bit more of a layer. So wide leg trousers are the ideal solution. You could go with a co-ord set where you pretty much get your full outfit, just add a necklace and some wedges and you’re ready to go.
You can also get creative with it and style up your trousers yourself, whether you’re wanting a flattering vest like the Lolita or if you want to be a little more covered something like the Lucille which is a smart top and even comes with a free necklace. Then by swapping up your heels for trainers and adding a denim jacket on you’ve got a great day time look too.
So hopefully now you feel a little less glum about those summer time blues, and even if we’re not quite getting the weather we want you can still show off those summer outfits, boast some dynamic colours come rain or shine.
